Stockport
Waitrose at Cheadle Hulme is on a site previously occupied by a public car park and offices. Whilst Waitrose now forms part of the district centre, at the time of the planning application it was regarded as being edge‑of‑centre and therefore a retail study was required to support the proposal. We undertook the retail assessment to support a planning application submitted on behalf of Kimberley Developments and we liaised with Stockport Council to assist the delivery of a successful outcome. The supermarket opened in 2007 and is now an important anchor attracting shoppers to the centre.
